Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be close to making a decision on an Argentinian defender after his loan deal expires in June.
Lucas Suarez has had a tough time of it of late, notably making a costly error in a 2-1 Nedbank Cup loss to Kaizer Chiefs.
However, according to insiders, Sundowns are willing to extend the stay of Lucas Suarez, with a long-term deal being discussed.
"Yes, the technical team as well as management are happy with Suarez and that's why it's believed that they want to keep him longer after his loan deal," reveals a source.
"They are preparing a three-year contract at the end of the season. It's not a done deal yet, but all looks good as all involved parties, including the player, are happy to stay at Sundowns."
Furthermore, with Malibongwe Khoza expected to leave for France, it is believed The Brazilians are making sure they have stability at the back.
"They don't want to be rebuilding each and every year if another player leaves and that's why the club is working on keeping him for three years after his loan deal.
"They know if Mali (Khoza) can leave for France, then they will have Lucas Suarez ready in that position."
The 30-year-old, who is on loan from CA Talleres, has featured in 10 league games so far.
