Freshened up Sirino’s charm effect at Chiefs

The 2025/26 season will come with demands for Gaston Sirino as he takes aim at playing for a contract extension at Kaizer Chiefs through continuing as a trophy magnet.

Sirino is in his second and final year of his agreement at Chiefs and will do so targeting being handed the opportunity to remain Naturena beyond June 2026.

By then he will be 18 months from completing a decade in the PSL.

Last term, the 34-year-old had 10 goals contributions through what at times became a difficult season due to what wasn’t always a smooth relationship with Nasreddine Nabi.

At best, Sirino provided the intelligence in penetrating defences yet along the way he found himself not enjoying it all.

Yet ultimately, he ended the season with another winners’ medal.

That was the 13th trophy won by Uruguayan since he arrived on these shores from Club Bolivar in January 2018 placing him at an important lane of having won silverware in every season he has played in South Africa.

He is the only footballer to have won seven league titles in a row in his first seven years playing top-flight football in South Africa.

Besides the Nedbank Cup won at Chiefs, his silverware collection with The Brazilians also has two Nedbank Cups, Telkom Knockout, MTN8 and the African Football League.

With Chiefs back on the continent in the new season, Sirino will provide some vital influence having seen it all in the Champions League where he played almost 50 games.
