Bimenyimana battling uncertain Chiefs future

Striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana's future at Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs remains increasingly uncertain after failing to be named in Molefi Ntseki's match-day squads so far this season with the transfer deadline fast approaching.

Chiefs have made it no secret to Bimenyimana that he is not in their plans for this season (2023/24) and have not included him in any of their two match-day squads to date.

The towering striker was not included in the squad for the draw against Chippa United and the defeat away at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bimenyimana made just three appearances - totaling 81 minutes - in Chiefs' last 10 matches of the 2022/23 season, sending clear signals on how he had fallen out of favour under Arthur Zwane.

Ntseki's appointment has made no difference with the 25-year-old still not preferred.

Efforts have been made to terminate his contract while a proposed move to Wydad Casablanca also flopped despite Bimenyimana travelling to Morocco in the hope of sealing a deal.

While the Burundian scored eight goals last season, his style of play is reportedly not favoured by the Chiefs management.

Rwandan champions APR are prepared to give Bimenyimana a temporary escape route but cannot pay a transfer fee.

Bimenyimana has a year remaining on his contract with Chiefs and this is where the stand-off is.

Amakhosi have made an effort to terminate and settle the contract matter amicably but have so far had no luck as Bimenyimana's camp remain resolute on a full payout.

Meanwhile, Bimenyimana has continued training as he honours his ongoing contract with the Soweto giants.

If a termination agreement is not reached and no club comes forward to table a transfer fee, it is understood the player will dig his heels in at Chiefs or tries to secure a loan move.

On the domestic scene, the transfer window only closes in September.

This website has been told that Bimenyimana is not in a good mental space regarding his ongoing situation.
