Chiefs’ crucial midfield lift

Kaizer Chiefs’ midfield options will get a key boost with the signing of Siphesihle Ndlovu after he completed his move from SuperSport United.

Ndlovu is an all-functional central midfielder with abundant energy be it in pressing his zones when the team is without the ball or advancing play with the ball at his feet.

As honest as they will ever come with effort, Ndlovu provides grit plus presence despite being of a smaller frame in physique and will be needed with Chiefs playing continental football this season.

Based on the work done by the analysis team at Chiefs in making considerations of what was in front of them they will have reason to believe they got it correct with this recommendation which has become a signing.

Ndlovu’s contract has agreed to the standard three-year contract at Chiefs which should keep him at Naturena into his early 30s.

Nasreddine Nabi now has Thabo Cele, Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Ethan Chislett, Lehlogonolo Matlou, Samkelo Zwane, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Edson Castillo amongst his options in central midfield.

For a more defensive role he will go with Cele, Maart, Mthethwa, Zwane, or Castillo.

Ndlovu is into that mix as well.

In need of a press on the accelerator from central midfield Ndlovu can also do the job just like Chislett, Matlou, Ngcobo which proves just how key a factor the man signed from SuperSport will become.

It will depend on how Nabi structures his midfield with various options now at his disposal with the signing of Ndlovu and Chislett.
