EXPLAINED: Insight into Shinga’s move to Chiefs

The details relating to Nkanyiso Shinga’s transfer from Portuguese club FC Alverca to Kaizer Chiefs have been revealed by his handlers.

Shinga has been brought in to play as a left-back following all the challenges that the club has had in that position in recent times with Edmilson Dove, Bradley Cross, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Bongani Sam, Sibusiso Mabiliso, and Sifiso Hlanti all signed in the last four years.

It is hoped that Shinga will now provide a permanent solution.

"We started talking to Chiefs two months ago after they approached the player and he referred them to me," reveals Zuneid Sidat, the CEO of Managing Football Stars (MFS), talking to KickOff.com.

Sidat spoke to this website just days after flying in from his base in Portugal to conclude Shinga’s deal in Johannesburg.

MFS represent Shinga and have several players based in Europe on their books, who include Mozambican left-back Bruno Langa.

"It was a smooth deal because we don’t do auctioning of our players to other clubs when we do negotiations.

"I know other agencies are just about chasing money and so will run all over to all clubs seeking the best deal.

"We went to Chiefs because we want him to play football and get into the national team.

"It will be easier for him to get into the national team when he is at Chiefs and that is our plan.

"That is the right path to get into the national team.

"We created the opportunity and now it is for the boy to make it work after having signed a four-year contract.

"There were other options, but our decision on Chiefs was already made up," explains Sidat, who also engineered Shinga’s move to Alverca.

Shinga started out at Vitoria Setubal’s U19 side in 2018 and has played in Portugal since then.
