What next after the Jekyll and Hyde season at Chiefs…

Nasreddine Nabi has provided insight into what will come with Kaizer Chiefs’ plan for the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday.

Their biggest rivals – Orlando Pirates – will be the hurdle that Chiefs need to get past for the trophy that they so desperately need after the season they have had and all that has happened in the last decade.

The appropriate description for Nabi’s first season is that it has been Jekyll and Hyde, yet this cup final now offers a comforting blanket for Nabi, who has suffered defeat in the two league games against Bucs.

"It is a cup game and completely different to the league derby because it is one game," points out Nabi.

"It is a real opportunity for us to play a final with the same opponent six days later.

"Why?

"Because you analyse the game with the same tactical situation with the same opponent and this facilitates for you to look into the positive and negative tactically points.

"I take this as an opportunity.

"It is not bad to play with the same team as they do in the Champions League, where you play home and away and after one week it is the same philosophy," says Nabi.

While ending the trophy drought at Naturena will be huge, what has happened in the league remains an issue.

Amakhosi are not even guaranteed of a Top Eight finish having lost 12 of the 26 league games played to date.

"In this moment, we need to give them (players) confidence about the situation.

"There is no time to blame," says Nabi.
