'Our game against Bafana is there to be won'

The Guinea head coach has stated that their game against Bafana Bafana on Monday in the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship is theirs to win.

The Molefi Ntseki-led Bafana will play their second group stage match at CHAN 2024 against Guinea.

Their opening match of the tournament, last Friday against Algeria, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Thabiso Kutumela scoring the equalising goal.

Guinea, meanwhile, claimed all three points in their first game after defeating Niger 1-0.

The West African nation is now confident they can secure a victory over Bafana, although they head into the game as relative underdogs.

According to CAFOnline, Guinea head coach Souleymane Camara said on Sunday: "I believe tomorrow’s game is there to be won.

"I am responsible for this team and I remind my players that they can win.

"We have had enough time to rest and I believe they are recovered.

"It’s not the fact that we lost that takes away our hope. Our objective is still alive.”

Ntseki also admitted that his Bafana side will be looking to get a good result.

He said: "The first game served as a real icebreaker for us, and we managed to fulfil that objective. The performance was at the right level and was reflected in the result achieved against a solid team.

"Now, we are in fourth place in the group, with just one point, and we know we have to surpass ourselves in the next game."
