Pending defensive restructuring for Nabi...

Kaizer Chiefs will head into Saturday’s Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates forced with making changes to parts of his defensive structure.

Chiefs have used four left-backs this season starting the campaign with Bradley Cross before offering minutes to Thatayaone Ditlhokwe before his departure for Libyan club Al-Ittihad.

Happy Mashiane has had scattered appearances while Edmilson Dove has stood in since his return from injury.

However, in the period from the beginning of March, Dove played the most in that position before then making way for Cross when he was moved to the centre.

In the last three matches, Mashiane started on the left against Marumo Gallants when Cross and Zitha Kwinika played as centre backs when Dove wasn’t involved.

Then in the Soweto derby it was Cross starting at left-back with Dove and Kwinika as central partners.

With Cross unavailable for the final after he was sent off it means Nabi has decisions to make.

Does he play Dove on the left then bring Inacio Miguel to partner Kwinika in the centre or he brings in Mashiane on the left.

If Mashiane starts then the two central defenders must be chosen from Miguel, Dove, and Kwinika.

Miguel has declared he is ready to play after being kept on the bench in the last two.

"Listen, I wanted to even play the game against Marumo (Gallants).

"The injury is what made me stop for three weeks and came back last week and so it was management by the coaches who preferred to rest me and not use me.

"Of course, the (three) yellow cards maybe had a hand in the decision but I’m still recovering and doing my rehab but this week there is no time for rehab.

"There is no time for doctors.

"Don’t put me in the doctor’s room because I’m going straight to the field to help the team," he says.

The right-back option is settled with Dillan Solomons having been involved in the last 11 matches.

Left footed central defender Rushwin Dortley is still not available to play due to injury while Given Msimango has also not played in the last three and wasn’t involved in training on Monday.

Bongani Sam is the other left-back at the club but he hasn’t been involved at all this season.
