'Chiefs have done it again by signing another little-known striker...'

A former Kaizer Chiefs striker predicts that the club's new signing, Flavio Da Silva, will not score more than seven goals in his first season with the Soweto giants.

There are concerns regarding the acquisition of the Guinea-Bissau-born striker from the lowly ranked Indonesia Liga 1.

Thembinkosi Biyela says that what Da Silva has shown during pre-season is similar to what Colombian footballer Jasond Gonzalez offered before he was released. He believes that even Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana was a better player than the new arrival, Da Silva.

Over the weekend, Da Silva demonstrated his potential by scoring the only goal as Amakhosi defeated Siwelele FC 1-0 during a friendly match.

"Kaizer Chiefs have done it again by signing another little-known striker with no proven track record," Biyela tells KickOff.

"Based on what I've seen so far, he is not the solution to our goal-scoring problem. He comes across as more of a chancer. There are many players in this country who can do what he is doing.

"We need goal scorers who will hit the ground running, and Da Silva does not fit that description. He will need time to settle in," the former striker added.

"I don't see him scoring more than seven goals this season. Bimenyimana was able to score goals for Chiefs, even though his style was awkward. I don't understand why they let him go.

"But Da Silva can be mentioned in the same breath as Gonzalez; they are similar players. They are at the same level as Claudio Zviripayi, with whom I played at Chiefs.

"Chiefs still need to go back to the market to find a striker. Da Silva's highlight reels may look impressive on social media, but the league he previously played in and our league are two different things. Our league is far more competitive. I was not impressed with what I saw from him while wearing a Chiefs shirt."
