'Mayele is a very good player, but...'

Mosa Lebusa has explained why Mamelodi Sundowns will not be too focused on Pyramids FC striker Fiston Mayele, who scored twice to elbow Orlando Pirates out of the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns are set to host the Egyptian outfit for the first leg of the Champions League final Pyramids at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday (15:00).

The visitors have proven to be formidable opponents, particularly lethal in front of goal.

They have scored 34 goals from their 14 matches en route to the final, eight of those coming from the boot of Mayele.

Lebusa, though, insists the Sundowns defence will not make any special preparations for the Congolese.

"Mayele is a very good player, but we don’t focus on one player, we focus on the team as a whole," Lebusa said at Chloorkop on Wednesday.

"So, for us, we just want to keep Pyramids as far away as possible from our penalty box and make sure that we minimise their scoring chances.

"We know that in and around the box, Mayele is deadly, and that’s one thing we are looking at. Hopefully, we’ll succeed and make sure that we get an advantage," he explained.

The return leg is scheduled for June 1 at 30 June Stadium in Egypt.
