Al Ahly break club transfer record to lure 2018 FIFA Club World Cup star to the Egyptian Premier League

After losing the 2018 CAF Champions League final in dramatic fashion and the abrupt Arab Club Championship exit, the African giants acted swiftly in a coaching change and have launched a transfer assault with an array of new signings.

However, The Red Devils have announced their biggest coup of the January window by securing Hussein El-Shahat from Al Ain, who was part of the side that finished runners-up to Real Madrid at the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup.

According to KingFut, El-Shahat arrives in a transfer worth 90m Egyptian Pounds (R70m) in a strategic deal aimed to bolster their attacking options for the 2019 CAF Champions League and domestic championship.

El-Shahat, 26, spent only one season in the United Arab Emirates but made a huge impression with the UAE Pro-League champions with 15 goals and 17 assists in 33 games across all competitions.

The three-time capped Egypt star joins Ramadan Sobhi, Mohamed Mahmoud, Geraldo and Mahmoud Wahid in their latest flurry of mid-season additions.
