FIFA has confirmed an impressive feat for South Africa ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup.
The tournament kicks off this weekend, with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami playing the opening match against Jose Riveiro’s new side, Al Ahly.

CAF will be represented by four teams at the tournament: Al Ahly, Espérance de Tunis, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Wydad Athletic Club.
These clubs also represent four different African nations, including Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, and Morocco.
All participating teams have submitted their squads for the tournament, although another player registration window will open after the group stages.
With the squads now confirmed, FIFA has revealed via its official website that 31 South African players have been registered to participate in the Club World Cup.
Impressively, South Africa has the joint-highest representation by an African nation at the tournament, a feat matched only by Morocco.
