New development in the chase for Mayele

A new development has seemingly emerged regarding Fiston Mayele's future at Pyramids FC.

Mayele is currently in high demand following his outstanding performances in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.

The DR Congo international played a key role for Pyramids as they made history by winning the Champions League for the first time.

Mayele finished the tournament as the top scorer, netting nine goals in 13 appearances, including one in the final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

As a result, there has been significant interest in Mayele, who is reportedly being pursued by top South African clubs, other teams across the continent, and sides from the Arab Gulf region.

However, potential suitors could be facing an uphill battle for the player’s signature, with a source from Pyramids reportedly revealing that the club plans to retain Mayele ahead of next season.

A source within Pyramids FC told Al-Masry Al-Youm: "There is no intention to let go of any key players from the team at this time.

"There is no intention to lose Mayele, especially given the management’s plan to retain core players and strengthen the squad with quality signings, due to the strong competitions the team is participating in.

"There is indeed an intention to reinforce the attacking line during the current summer transfer window, but this is not related to parting ways with Mayele."
