A 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina has now urged a certain Manchester United star to stop copying Cristiano Ronaldo.

With a new generation of talent now competing at the highest level, many youngsters have cited Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as their idols.

Brazilian duo Vinicius Junior and Endrick have admitted in the past that they looked up to the Portuguese striker and Real Madrid legend, while others, such as Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, have previously declared the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner as their role model instead.

Indeed, it is no secret that the Red Devils' Alejandro Garnacho is a huge admirer of Ronaldo, even though he also plays alongside Messi for the Argentina national team.

However, the 19-year-old's compatriot Angel Di Maria, who is part of a very select group of stars who have played with both football icons, has now urged the United winger to not do things like Ronaldo, suggesting that he should copy Messi rather.

"The only thing I wouldn't do is celebrate Cristiano. I would score the goal and I would do like Messi does. I'll stick with that," he told Argentine newspaper Ole when asked about Garnacho's rise recently.

"He is a very fast player, he has incredible ability. He is going to gain it with experience and coming to the national team, it is a place where you learn a lot and continue to improve. It helped me a lot to grow technically in every way, it is spectacular.

"I think he will grow with experience as well. When I was young I wanted to make the play 30 times in the game. Over the years, you realise that if you do it 10, but you do it better, it's worth it.

"He has a lot of future, a very big future. It depends on him, on his head, to be able to handle it.

"I don’t have much to say, there's a reason he's playing for Manchester United."
