Former Bafana Bafana star Teko Modise believes Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley du Preez deserved a call-up to the national team.
Alongside, Pule Mmodi and Edson Castillo, Du Preez has been a bright spark in an otherwise underwhelming start for Chiefs this season. The 26-year-old has scored two goals and provided a single assist in six appearances for Amakhosi.
He has also be been heavily involved in orchestrating the Soweto Giants' attacking line, prompting head coach Molefi Ntseki to label the former Stellies front-man as the club's 'best acquisition'.
"I think he [Du Preez] is the best acquisition that we've brought to the club because we were fully aware of his qualities and he is paying that back by getting goals for the team," Ntseki said in August.

Bafana head coach Hugo Broos however opted against Du Preez in the initial 36-man preliminary squad for upcoming friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.
Teammate Mmodi was a late addition to the final 23-man squad as a replacement for injured Themba Zwane and Modise has questioned why the speedy attacker did not make the cut.
