WATCH: Suarez involved in big brawl, army intervenes!

Former FC Barcelona star Luis Suarez caused a stir at his new club when his actions seemingly led to a big brawl during the team's latest match, with the army needing to intervene.

Following a trophy-laden career in Europe, Suarez is now in the latter stages of his career, having joined Brazilian side Gremio at the beginning of the year.

In the team's match against Avenida on the weekend, the ex-Liverpool talisman's quick thinking seemingly led to an angry reaction from the opposition's players.

After the referee had blown for a free-kick, the Porto Alegre-based side took it quickly while Avenida's players were still arguing with the match official and preparing for the set-piece, playing it to Suarez in the box, who then squared the ball to teammate Franco Cristaldo to find the back of the net.

With the goal allowed to stand, this incensed the visitors who then quickly surrounded the match official, who then showed a second yellow and a red card to the captain of the onrushing players.

Despite the dismissal, the Avenida players continued to aggressively protest the decision, and with things threatening to spill over into violence, the army intervened in order to separate the footballers from the referee.

With another player being sent off for his protests, Gremio would later score a second to secure a 2-0 win.
