Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk claims Jurgen Klopp is more than just a cheerleader on the sidelines

Liverpool hold an impressive three-goal advantage going into the tie at the Etihad Stadium tonight and virtually need just one goal to see them progress as the away goal would require City to score more than five.

While City remain one of the sides in Europe capable of achieving the unlikely feat, the man tasked to prevent the unthinkable, Virgil van Dijk spoke about the incredible tactician in charge of the Merseyside club.

The newly appointed Netherlands captain has become a key figure under Klopp this season since making a world-record transfer for a defender in a mammoth £75m (R1.28b) deal from Southampton in January - and admits the German, who hold the best managerial winning record against City boss Pep Guardiola is one of the worlds best.

"Obviously that [interaction with crowd] stays more in people's minds because that is what you see, but he is much more than that. You don't see all the hard work we put in behind the scenes. He has shown already that he is an outstanding manager."
