Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Lucas Suarez has joined a new club back on his home continent, South America.
Suarez initially joined the Tshwane giants in January 2025 on loan from Argentine club CA Talleres, arriving with high expectations from both management and supporters.

However, his stint at Chloorkop didn’t go as expected. The club opted not to extend his stay beyond the 2024/25 season. More so, Suarez played no part in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States.
During his time at Masandawana, the 30-year-old left-footed centre-back made 14 appearances across all competitions, scoring once and providing one assist.
A few weeks after his departure from the Betway Premiership champions, Suarez has now been unveiled as a new signing by Uruguayan Primera División side Liverpool FC.

"Defender Lucas Suarez is a new Liverpool player," the club announced in a brief statement.
Prior to his move to Uruguay, Suarez had been linked with Argentine top-flight sides Rosario Central and Club Atlético Platense. However, neither transfer came to fruition, paving the way for his move to the Montevideo-based club.
