CR Belouizdad 'begin' Mayo exit talks

Algerian giants CR Belouizdad are reportedly open to parting ways with Khanyisa Mayo in this transfer window with two clubs believed to be showing interest in the South African star.

Mayo is only one season into the three-year deal he signed with CR Belouizdad in August 2024.

The South African striker scored six goals from 41 appearances in all competitions, according to Transfermarkt.

Following his debut campaign, it has since been reported that the club is leaning towards severing ties ahead of next season.

According to Algerian broadcaster Dzair Tube, CR Belouizdad recently attempted to terminate Mayo's contract.

The report claims that talks of a mutual separation hit a deadlock when Mayo’s camp insisted on compensation for the remainder of the contract.

As a result, the report from Dzair Tube adds that CR Belouizdad pulled out of negotiations, with the club keen to avoid burdening its finances.

Instead, CR Belouizdad are reported to have already begun exploring the loan market for Mayo within Algeria.

It is claimed that two clubs are keen on signing the former Cape Town City marksman on a season-long loan.

Preliminary talks with the interested parties, CS Constantine and MC Oran, have reportedly already been initiated.

An attempt to reach out to Mayo's representative was made but no response was received at the time of publishing.
