Agent: Onana rejected 2 EPL clubs before Man Utd

Andre Onana's agent has revealed the Cameroonian goalkeeper turned down two other Premier League sides before completing a move to Manchester United.

The shot-stopper officially completed his move to the Red Devils last week after the club agreed a €51million transfer, making him the third most expensive goalkeeper of all time.

However, it has now been revealed that London sides Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea were keen on a move for the former Inter Milan star, the player's agent Albert Botines confirmed.

"It all started a few months ago. Around April many people inquired about the player. Tottenham asked for information, Chelsea had a very strong interest," he told CalcioMercato.it.

"There were meetings in London and Chelsea had also met with Inter, but the figure of Ten Hag was key."

Ten Hag was happy with Onana's debut against Real Madrid despite the Cameroonian conceded two goals on the night.

"I think he was good, solid. He made two very good saves, so he was there in the moment the team needed him, he did his job, he integrated well into our team.

"This is the first game [with Onana] and we have a lot of work to do, on the defending part. For the second goal, we were not close at the back post, and it can't be that a goal can come there.

"There are rules we have to follow, but they will come quickly in the way that we integrate them into our way of play."
