Sergio Ramos hits back at controversial Gerard Pique claims

Following Barcelona's 0-0 draw with Sevilla last weekend, Pique cryptically suggested that recent VAR decisions in favour of Los Blancos, and against his side, meant the Catalan giants would struggle to retain their league title this season.

"Seeing how the last two weeks have gone, it will be very difficult to win the league." Pique said after that match, as reported by AS.

Ramos has not taken kindly to his compatriot's comments, and hit back at the suggestion that Real had unfairly benefited from the implementation of VAR.

"There's a lot of noise in the media because we're leaders again," the 34-year-old told Movistar.

"They didn't talk so much before [but now] they talk about VAR, but I don't think anyone has an advantage over the season.

"We don't pay attention to this noise. I don't think they [the referees] make any predetermined decisions. It seems like we should be thanking the refs for being leaders! People shouldn't be imagining things.

"We've been working hard and since the lockdown, we've been united, and we deserve to be where we are."
