Messi shocked the football fraternity in August after informing the Catalan giants that he wanted to leave following the club's humiliating loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
The Argentine forward then made a U-turn in September and announced he would stay for another season, which could be his last at the Camp Nou as his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
While there have been no reports or indications that an extension to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's contract is imminent, Farre is convinced that Messi wants to remain with the Blaugrana.
"Messi wants to stay at Barca. That's what I know. His family wants to stay at Barcelona and we're going to work for it," he told Onda Cero.
"I would go as far to say that if we win the [Barcelona presidential] elections, Messi will renew his deal. His renewal would be incurred automatically on 25 January if I win the elections the day previous."
When asked about a possible deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, he added, "Neymar's signing will be cheap because the investment will be greater than the outlay."
