FC Barcelona news: Laurent Blanc linked with Barca top job

After club legends Xavi Hernandez and Patrick Kluivert were linked with the FC Barcelona managerial post, a new name has been added to the shortlist of possible replacements for current boss Quique Setien.

Setien was appointed as Barcelona's manager in January following the sacking of Ernesto Valverde, but could soon be shown the door as well after failing to retain the LaLiga trophy this season.

Former Barca star Xavi, who is now the manager of Al Sadd, was strongly linked with the job before signing an extension with the Qatari club, while Kluivert, who is currently the Blaugrana's academy director, has also emerged as a strong candidate.

However, according to new reports from Spanish publication Sport, former Paris Saint-Germain and France manager Laurent Blanc could now be appointed to the role on an interim basis for next season.

It is claimed that Xavi is still Barca's preferred candidate and that the club could appoint the former Manchester United defender on a one-year deal to fill the role until the Spaniard becomes available again.

Should that move not materialise, former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is also believed to be among the managers on the shortlist for the position.
