Resurgent Man Utd clinch third straight win

Manchester United registered a third consecutive win in the Premier League after defeating Everton 3-0 on Sunday evening.

Man United made three changes to the side that edged Luton Town before the FIFA break, as 18-year old Kobbie Mainoo was handed his first Premier League start in place of the injured Casemiro alongside recalls for Anthony Martial and the return of Luke Shaw.

The Red Devils had a perfect start after going ahead three minutes from the first whistle courtesy of a stunning over-head-kick by Alejandro Garnacho in the box that found the bottom corner from a cross by Diogo Dalot.

With their tails up, United almost grabbed the second goal ten minutes later after Shaw fired a half-volley just over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

The Toffees grew in the game after that and Dominic Calvert-Lewin nearly equalised on the half-hour mark with a glancing header in the box that sailed slightly over the top.

Sean Dyche's troops gained momentum and created good chances after that but they did not have the finishing touches and went to the break trailing by an odd goal.

The visitors settled the quickest from the break and Marcus Rashford doubled their lead 11 minutes in from the spot-kick awarded following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review after former United full-back Ashley Young brought down Martial in the box.

Erik ten Hag retained the team's structure with a double change on 73 minutes, as Sofyan Amrabat replaced Mainoo for solidity in midfield and Facundo Pellistri came on for Garnacho for fresh legs in attack.

United were happy to sit back and hit Everton on a counter-attack two minutes later after Martial buried the game with dink over goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after a through ball by Bruno Fernandes.

Vitali Mykolenko almost gave the Toffees some hope nine minutes before time after he beat goalkeeper Andre Onana with a smashing strike that came off the crossbar.

Man United were home and dry in the dying minutes as they won three league games in a row for the first time this season.
