With Jose Riveiro now believed to have already landed in Egypt, the next steps before signing a new contract as Al Ahly boss, have reportedly been revealed.

Riveiro managed his final game as Orlando Pirates head coach on Tuesday, claiming a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Golden Arrows to end a three-year tenure with the Soweto giants.

The Spaniard opted not to extend his stay at Orlando after winning five trophies with the club, and was subsequently allowed to depart before the conclusion of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership.

It is widely understood that Riveiro will now replace Marcel Koller as Al Ahly’s new permanent manager ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

According to reports in Egypt, Riveiro arrived in Cairo on Thursday morning and was received at the airport by Al Ahly’s public relations officials before being transported to his accommodation.

Egyptian publication Awan Masr, reports that Riveiro is scheduled to visit Al Ahly’s headquarters in Gezira later today for an official meeting with club president Mahmoud El Khatib.

During that meeting, it is expected that the two parties will finalise the contract details of the new coaching staff before officially putting pen to paper.

Once that is done, the Spanish tactician is expected to begin his duties as soon as possible.
