'All teams fear Sundowns in North Africa'

A former Orlando Pirates coach has made a huge claim about Betway Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns, a statement involving North African football teams.

Fadlu Davids, the current head coach of Tanzanian team Simba SC, has insisted that all North African teams find it difficult to face Masandawana.

In the quarterfinals and semifinals of this season's CAF Champions League, Downs defeated two northern teams, Esperance de Tunis and Al Ahly, respectively.

The South African coach, who previously coached the Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the North, has led Simba to the CAF Confederation Cup final this season, where they will face RSB Berkane.

In his recent interview, Davids heaped praise on Sundowns, claiming they are the most feared side by many African teams.

"I think you've got to give a huge credit to Dr. Patrice Motsepe because when he bought the club It was his vision to dominate Africa," Davids said on Mike Morton Talks Football YouTube Channel.

"We felt it when we were at Raja Casablanca that every player would want to play for Mamelodi Sundowns.

"In North Africa, all the teams fear Sundowns, and that is what they've built over this period from Mosimane's time until now."

The 43-year-old tactician is also confident that Sundowns will demonstrate their value at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Downs have been drawn in Group F along with Brazilian club Fluminense, German giants Borussia Dortmund, and South Korean side Ulsan HD FC.

"In the Club World Cup, they are playing against bigger teams and I think the coach is probably the right one for them at the moment to play this certain style that is not normally the free flowing Sundowns style," added the ex-Maritzburg United coach.

"They have got good players that can score goals at any moment that is why they will be more successful and maybe win the CAF Champions League and make us proud in the Club World Cup as well."
