Egyptian Premier League match report Ismaily v Al Ahly 27 October 2021

Percy Tau registered a brace on debut for Al Ahly, who began the Egyptian Premier League season with a 4-0 thrashing of Ismaily on Wednesday evening.

New signings Tau and Luis Miquissone headlined the Cairo Red Devils starting eleven, while former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker Justin Shonga made his debut for Ismaily.

Ismaily were on the end of the first chance after 13 minutes after Shokry Naguib edged towards the breakthrough with a decent opportunity but Ali Lotfi was alert and cleared away.

However, it was Ahly that made the breakthrough after five minutes when Ali Maaloul guided goalkeeper Ahmed Adel Abdel-Moneim the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Tau marked his debut with a goal midway through the first half when he drifted goal-side after cutting inside before going on to beat Abdel-Moneim with reasonable ease.

The South African international completed his brace late in the half after he brought low pass from the right under control to slot in from close-range.

Ismaily looked for a renewed spell as the second half commenced, and with that introduced Ahmed Madbouly in place of the Zambian Shonga.

The away outfit though upped the ante even further and saw Tau bag a third and his side's fourth in the earlier exchanges following the restart, but it was disallowed for offside.

Ahly finished the match with ten players well inside the closing stages with Aliou Dieng dismissed for a second bookable offence against Mohamed El-Shamy.

The sending off didn't disrupt the Red Devils as with three minutes to go Ahmed Hamdi AbdelKader went on a mazy solo run to find the net with ease to round off a fine evening's work on the opening day for Ahly.
