Kenya head coach Benni McCarthy has been dealt a big blow ahead of the African Nation Championship (CHAN), which gets underway in August.
This year's CHAN tournament will be hosted across three countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

McCarthy named his provisional squad for the tournament earlier this week, but South African tactician will be without striker Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot winner Moses Shumah.
Shumah, who was linked with a move to South Africa, has joined Zambian Premier League giants Power Dynamos ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 22-year-old striker has put pen-to-paper on a two year deal with the Zambian outfit.
As a result, Shumah, who scored 17 goals last season, is now ineligible for CHAN as the tournament is only for home-based players.
The move will most likely be a headache for McCarthy, who had included Shumah in his squad this week.
The Harambee Stars were drawn in Group A alongside Angola, DR Congo, Kenya and Zambia.
