A former Al Ahly assistant coach has revealed the toughest experience he faced during his time with the Egyptian giants — a challenge involving Betway Premiership heavyweights Mamelodi Sundowns.
Samy Komsan, an Egyptian coach, dedicated nearly eight years to the Red Devils as an assistant before stepping down last month. He also managed the club's U21 team for a minimum of two years.
In 2019, Ahly suffered a significant defeat, losing 5-0 to the Brazilians in the first leg of the CAF Champions League while the South African team was still coached by Pitso Mosimane.

The 12-time Champions League winners, at the time guided by Uruguayan mentor Martin Lasarte, with Komsan serving as one of his assistants, ended up losing 5-1 on aggregate despite winning 1-0 in Cairo.
Komsan has now opened up about his challenging times at Ahly, specifically highlighting the most difficult experience he faced against Sundowns.

"The most difficult moment in my career with Al Ahly was the loss to South Africa's Sundowns," Qamisan said on the Football with Fayek program, per Egypress.
"The toughest moment was the 5-0 defeat under former coach Martin Lasarte, especially after the team returned to Cairo and played the second leg in front of a large crowd, winning by a single goal and thus exiting the tournament."
