In Group G, Uganda are set to face Mozambique on 5 September before taking on Somalia three days later, with both games set to take place at Namboole Mandela National Stadium.
Uganda head coach Paul Put announced a 28-man squad, with the shocking inclusion of Sundowns star Denis Onyango.
The veteran goalkeeper hung up his gloves for the national team back in April 2021, but following a hiatus of more than three years, he has now officially returned to international duty.
Onyango previously led Uganda to two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in 2017 and 2019.
According to Transfermarkt, Onyango has 82 caps for the Uganda Cranes since making his debut in 2005.
Notably, his return to the national team comes nearly a month after he was hired as part of Uganda's technical staff at the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship.
