Rulani 'makes' request to Wydad amid financial complications

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has reportedly made a request to Wydad Athletic Club before the two parties officially part ways.

Mokwena said goodbye to the Botola Pro League giants at the end of the 2024/25 season after failing to meet expectations, more especially failing to qualify for next season's CAF Champions League.

Although it was reported that Mokwena had signed a contract termination agreement with Wydad, Moroccan publication WinWin are claiming that the coach is yet to sign.

Earlier last month, reports from SABC Sport claimed that the 38-year-old mentor, along with his South African technical team went for eight months without being paid.

More so, LeSiteInfo have recently claimed that Mokwena will not receive any payments beyond his current outstanding dues which, according to reports is his salary for several months and other match bonuses.

Now, it is noted that the South African tactician has requested that his agent and personal lawyer be present in Morocco to sign his separation agreement with Wydad.

It is reported that Mokwena is set to meet with Wydad president Hicham Ait Menna, who he seemingly has a good relationship with even after he was dismissed, to resolve their financial dispute and terminate his deal.

"The coach asked President Ait Mena to have his agent and lawyer present in Morocco so he could sign the separation agreement," a source said to WinWin.

"It appears that the man has begun to backtrack on the promises he made recently, immediately after signing coach Amin Ben Hachem and a new technical staff.

"The president of Wydad Ait Mena told the South African coach he has the right to call his agent, which puts the club in an awkward position before participating in the Club World Cup."
