FC Barcelona’s title celebrations in LaLiga were dented following a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Villarreal CF in an entertaining match on Sunday evening.
Having clinched the title already, Barca still rolled out a strong starting line-up that inlcuded Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski.
Former Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez silenced the home crowd when he tapped in from the centre of the area after just four minutes played.
Yamal levelled matters midway in the first half with a superb trademark curler ito the top-corner following a combination of passes around the six-yard box.
Barcelona were inspired by the equaliser and went to the break in front when Fermin Lopez’s looping shot from the edge of the box nestled in the bottom-corner.
The Yellow Submarine came back after halftime and drew level after Santi Comesana raced in-behind the defence following a through pass and chipped over Ter Stegen.
On-loan Tajon Buchanan got the Submarines back in front ten minutes from time when he fired in at the back-post following a teasing delivery.
Sevilla 0-2 Real Madrid
Real Madrid left it late to secure a 2-0 win over a nine-man Sevilla in their penultimate LaLiga clash at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez.
Los Blancos gave rare starting berths to goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, Jesus Vallejo, Jacobo Ramon, Fran Garcia and Endrick following the win in midweek against Mallorca.
Sevilla were on the back-foot in the 12th minute after Loic Bade picked up a straight red card for bringing down Kylian Mbappe in a dangerous area.
Another dismissal went the way of the host two minutes in the second half when Isaac Romero also received a straight red-card for a strong lunge of Aurelien Tchouameni.
Madrid made the most of the big numerical superiority and hit the front in the closing 15 minutes through a smartly taken effort from Mbappe.
Los Blancos ensured victory three minutes to the end when Gonzalo Garcia nodded a delivery to the area across the face of goal and Jude Bellingham pounced to make it 2-0.
