Ex-Downs star's next destination from Wydad 'revealed'

A former Mamelodi Sundowns star is reportedly being pursued by a Middle Eastern club amid an impending exit from Wydad Athletic Club.

Ex-Downs defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil is said to be on his way out of Wydad after just one season, following his move to Casablanca from Chloorkop.

His likely departure comes as less of a surprise, as it was reported earlier this year that he had been approached by a Russian club, FK Sochi, during the January transfer window.

The player was reported to have rejected that move, citing his desire to first play at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup before considering his options elsewhere.

With Wydad having been knocked out in the group stage of the Club World Cup, reports suggest that Boutouil's exit is now more likely than ever.

According to Africafoot, Boutouil is now being courted by a club in the United Arab Emirates, Al Dhafra.

The publication claims that initial contact has already been made through his agent, Hicham Eddahabi, who in turn has informed Wydad's management about the interest in Boutouil.

The report adds that Wydad refused to enter into any discussions with Al Dhafra until they submit a formal bid.

Moreover, Wydad are open to Boutouil leaving but are adamant about getting a satisfactory fee for the centre-back before sanctioning his departure.
