Egyptian star 'blames' Pitso for his Ahly exit

One of Pitso Mosimane's former players at Al Ahly has blamed the South African coach for his departure from the club.

Mosimane spent nearly two years with the Egyptian Premier League giants after joining them from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2020.

Jingles, as Mosimane is affectionately known, is widely regarded as one of Africa’s top coaches, having won the CAF Champions League three times, twice with Al Ahly and once with Downs.

Now, Ahmed Yasser Rayan, a former Ahly forward currently playing for Bank El Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League, has reportedly accused Mosimane of contributing to his exit from the club.

According to Jarida.onl, Rayan, an Al Ahly academy product, has stated that a lack of playing time under Mosimane was the main reason behind his departure.

During Mosimane’s tenure, the 27-year-old spent most of his time out on loan at clubs including El Gouna, Cleopatra FC, and Turkey's Altay SK, rather than featuring regularly for the 12-time CAF Champions League winners.

As per the report, when speaking about his other issues, the Cairo-born player has insisted that the former Masandawana mentor's lack of trust made him decided to leave the team.

"I received several offers during that period from Al-Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids, but things didn’t pan out with Ceramica Cleopatra," Rayan said per Jarida.onl.

"I agreed to move to Zamalek because it is a big club and it is an honor for any player to wear its shirt.

"I felt so dizzy at that moment, I could see the goal moving in front of me."
