Azam 'decide' on Chiefs-admired Salum's future

Tanzanian outfit Azam FC have reportedly made a final decision regarding the future of their star midfielder Feisal Salum.

Salum, widely known by his nickname "Fei Toto," has become one of the most sought-after talents in East African football. His stock began to rise during his time at Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans SC (Yanga), before making the switch to Azam in July 2023.

Chiefs’ interest in the 27-year-old intensified following the arrival of Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi at the start of last season.

Having worked closely with Salum during their successful stint at Yanga, Nabi was reportedly keen to reunite with the playmaker, whom he holds in high regard for his creativity, composure, and ability to dictate play from midfield.

However, a move failed to materialize last season, with the Zanzibar City-born midfielder staying put at Azam and continuing to shine throughout the campaign.

Now, according to a report by Tanzanian publication The Citizen, Azam have confirmed that Salum will remain with the club for the upcoming 2025/26 season. The report has stated that the attacking midfielder has penned a one-year contract extension.

This new deal not only signals Azam’s intent to build their squad around the influential midfielder but also effectively rules out any chance of a move to Chiefs, at least for the coming season.
