This marks the Spaniard's second managerial role in Africa, following a successful three-year stint with the Buccaneers during which he won five trophies.
Riveiro will oversee the remainder of the 2024/25 Egyptian Premier League season, where he could clinch his first trophy with two play-off matches remaining, against National Bank this weekend and Pharco on Wednesday, 28 May.
Following that, Riveiro will lead his new side at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where Al Ahly are set to face Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, Brazilian giants Palmeiras, and FC Porto in the group stage of the competition.
