A former Al Ahly defender has spoken frankly and expressed his concerns about the reported appointment of former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.
The Spanish tactician is expected to be announced as the new head coach of the Egyptian Premier League club soon. He will be replacing dismissed Swiss manager Marcel Koller.
Riveiro spent three seasons with the Buccaneers, winning three MTN 8 titles and two Nedbank Cup trophies. However, he failed to clinch the league title during his tenure.

The 49-year-old tactician's success with the Betway Premiership giants has drawn attention from the African continent, with him now joining the Red Devils.
However, ex-Ahly player Mahmoud Aboul-Dahab thinks his former club might have made a mistake by roping in the Vigo-born gaffer.
Aboul-Dahab is of the opinion that Ahly should have instead brought a more experienced coach, considering the pressure and demand from the club's fans, more especially ahead of the the FIFA Club World Cup.
"I saw Rivero when he was with the South African side, Orlando Pirates, and he performed well," El-Dahab said, per Almasryalyoum.com.

"I believe Al Ahly deserved a coach with a stronger resume, especially considering they earned a spot in the 2025 Club World Cup.
"Al Ahly and Zamalek are clubs that would make any coach proud," he added.
"I wish him success at Al Ahly in the coming period, but in my view, this appointment may not be the best possible choice."
