Diaw was initially expected to join the Tanzanian side ahead of the new season, as per the report. However, in a late development, the defender has opted for a switch to Algeria instead.
It is believed that Zinnbauer played a key role in the deal, personally approaching Diaw's current club, Al Hilal, and convincing both the club and the player to accept a move to the Lions of Djurdjura.
The 27-year-old left-back is said to be bringing a wealth of experience and quality, which is why Zinnbauer was determined to secure his signature.
Interestingly, the two coaches share a strong professional relationship, with the South African tactician having previously served as the German’s assistant at both Orlando Pirates and Raja Casablanca.
Despite reportedly missing out on Diaw, Simba have been active in the transfer market. The Tanzanian giants recently secured the signing of Rushine De Reuck, a highly rated defender from Mamelodi Sundowns, amongst other additions.
