African giants set sights on ex-Bucs star

Former Orlando Pirates defender Justice Chabalala could be set for a major career move with one of the African football powerhouses is keeping tabs on him ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Having first made a name for himself at the now-defunct Free State Stars in 2016, Chabalala was snapped up by the Buccaneers in 2017.

However, regular playing time proved elusive at Pirates, leading to successive loan spells at Chippa, Bloemfontein Celtic, and Sekhukhune United.

Now, just days after his departure from Chippa, KickOff understands that Congolese giants TP Mazembe have expressed interest in acquiring his services.

Sources close to the player have confirmed that initial discussions between Mazembe and Chabalala’s representatives have taken place, with the deal likley to happen.

Should the deal materialise, it would represent a significant step up for Chabalala, with Mazembe being one of the most decorated clubs on the continent, boasting five CAF Champions League titles and a reputation for competing at the highest levels in African football.

A move to Lubumbashi would not only provide the veteran defender with playing for one of the biggest teams in Africa, also offer him the chance to showcase his abilities on a continental stage.

Additionally, It would be a valuable opportunity to cement his legacy and potentially contend for major silverware before hanging up his boots, considering that he will be turning 34 in November this year.
