Lyle Lakay pens Mamelodi Sundowns deal

Following earlier speculation, Lakay has put pen to paper on a three-year deal after the two clubs reached an agreement earlier in the week, with a medical the only formality left before an official announcement is made.

The 26-year-old left-winger was also targeted by Bidvest Wits, but The Brazilians were quicker to land the South African former junior international.

Coach Pitso Mosimane earlier told this website that the Tshwane side were likely to make "one or two" more signings during the current transfer window.

Lakay joined The Citizens at the start of last season from Bloemfontein Celtic, where he made a name for himself after leaving SuperSport United in 2012, and managed 35 appearances in all competitions under Benni McCarthy.

However, the arrival of Gift Links from Egyptian side Pyramids FC has since opened the door for his exit, and is set to arrive at Chloorkop this weekend.

The Cape Town-born attacker is tipped to be converted into a wing-back, just as current first-choice left-back Tebogo Langerman was converted by Mosimane.
