The Glamour Boys are still seeking a replacement for Steve Komphela, who resigned in April after a Nedbank Cup semi-final loss to Free State Stars condemned the Soweto giants to a third trophyless season under his watch.
While Komphela has since taken charge of Bloemfontein Celtic, his former assistant at Amakhosi Patrick Mabedi is currently overseeing Chiefs' preparations for the coming campaign in an interim capacity.
"Eish, ja, that's trouble hey!" Radebe tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"Ja, because if you don't have ... if you don't prepare proper for the season you might be found wanting, especially at a big club like Kaizer Chiefs.
"I think they have to be on par after what they've gone through all these years. So they don't need just a coach, they need a quality, proper coach who will instil discipline and character into that team.
"So the only time you have is pre-season. You need somebody with great personality to instil discipline and make sure that the club improves.
"It's not a lot of them you can find easy like that. You know one doesn't know how deep are they digging or how far they've gone with this situation, but hopefully soon they'll be revealing their coach because they've got that Shell Ultra Challenge with Sundowns [on July 21]. So I hope and think they will have a hint."
While a new coach may differ in his philosophy to Mabedi, 'Rhoo' doubts the players are currently at risk of taking on board tactical instructions that are subject to change as conditioning will be the prime focus.
"No, I think whoever is in charge of pre-season now, those boys they know themselves better, and they know how hard and how long the season is, so hard work pays.
"I don't think at the moment they would be planning for the season, you know in terms of players or the team or the structures, stuff like that. I think for now they will be working on fitness and at least to make sure that when the new coach comes in, they'll be fit."
