Bloemfontein Celtic's scheduled meeting with Manguang Mayor Olly Mlameli has been postponed

Celtic chairman Max Tshabalala has publicly stated that he wants to sell the club due to financial struggles. Celtic have denied that they have sold the club to a businessman in Kimberley.

Supporters of the club have voiced their dissatisfaction at the news that the club could move to Kimberley if it is sold.

Mayor Mlameli, however, has postponed the meeting.

A statement read: “Kindly note that the Executive Mayor, Cllr Olly Mlameli, has postponed indefinitely the press conference that was scheduled to take place this morning with Bloemfontein Celtic management and the business community.

“This is done with the intention of consulting broader regarding the retention of the soccer club in Manguang. We felt that we haven’t consulted broadly with our stakeholders. The postponement will give us more time to consult broadly with our stakeholders and ultimately give members of the community feedback on the results of these consultations. We will inform the media of the outcomes and the new date for the press conference.

“We sincerely apologise for the postponement at short notice.”
