Matsatsantsa on a wing and a prayer, coach speaks

SuperSport United coach Andre Arendse is confident his team will survive the drop and remain in the Betway Premiership next season.

SuperSport's chances of surviving the axe at the end of the season took another big blow when they were defeated 1-0 by Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday.

The Pretoria now need to beat both Golden Arrows and Richards Bay FC to boost the chances of that happening, as they host the latter in the same venue in Polokwane on Saturday.

Arendse is hoping that Lady Luck is going to start smilling on their side sooner rather than later.

“I am not happy that we lost, but I am not disappointed with the performance. I think those are two different things. They gave all out,” said the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper post-match.

“There is something called luck in the game, we don’t have it at the moment. On another night, the header hit the post and went into the net, this time it hits the post and comes out. These are some of the small margins I am talking about in terms of lucky perspective,” he noted.

The Tshwane side have only won six games in the league this season and conceded 27 goals, which could be a worrying factor going into the last two fixtures.

“We’re gonna fix that, we’re gonna do it quickly because we’re running out of games. We don’t have time. Like I said in my interviews, we are going to do this. There is no doubt in my mind that this group of players is going to see this team over the line and I am looking forward to seeing it,” declared Arendse.
