Kaizer Chiefs has had an illustrious list of foreign players, and arguably among the most memorable is Burundian defender Valery Nahayo. Here's a look at what the ex-Amakhosi star has been up to!
While his three-year stay at Naturena from 2008 to 2011 was far from the longest spell many Chiefs defenders have spent at the club, Nahayo is likely among those who are quite memorable among their fanbase.

The tall and dominant defender joined the Glamour Boys from Jomo Cosmos, who had suffered relegation that saw an exodus of stars including Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Anthony Laffor, Dikgang Mabalane, Morgan Gould, and Nkosinathi Nhleko among others.
Nahayo along with 'Yeye' joined Amakhosi, while other memorable names such as Thabang Rooi, Punch Masanamela, Dominic Isaacs, and George Lebese also joined the club during that same transfer window.
The Burundi international then went on to win a Telkom knockout in the 2010/11 season before departing to join Belgian side, Gent.
Now aged 37, it appears that Nahayo is no longer competing at a professional level, as according to Transfermarkt, he has been without a club since July 2020.
In the meantime, he seems to have been enjoying some quality family time with his wife and children. Another thing that is quite apparent about Nahayo is that he is a passionate basketball fan – and with his height, we can only wonder if he ever had dreams of becoming a professional in that particular sport.
