Contract run down for Nurkovic amid departures

Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic will run down his contract despite his employers’ change of name and ownership from SuperSport United to Siwelele FC.

Nurkovic signed for SuperSport in October after leaving TS Galaxy a month earlier in what was a rather surprising departure considering that he scored 10 goals.

The 33-year-old joined Galaxy with the 2023/24 season in motion as replacement for Ivorian striker Djakaridja Traore, who left for Turkish club Istanbulspor.

At that time, he had not played football for 16 months following his issues at Royal AM – the club he signed for after the end of his three-year stay at Kaizer Chiefs.

His time at SuperSport came with two goals in 15 matches with the club struggling in the bottom half of the standings.

This website can confirm that Nurkovic has a year remaining on his contract and will be staying at the club under the new owners.

He signed for one-and-a-half years when he joined.

Siwelele have already lost Bradley Grobler who has joined Sekhukhune United while Thulani Hlatshwayo’s contract expired on June 30.

Ime Okon has joined German second division club Hannover 96 while Siphesihle Ndlovu is now at Kaizer Chiefs.

Terrence Dzvukamanja has moved back home to Zimbabwe where he has signed for moneybags Scotland.
