Sibusiso Khumalo grateful for Futuro Kings Equatorial Guinea move

The Katlehong-born star left Masandawana in 2019 after a very frustrating stay during which he struggled to get game-time throughout his time at the club before going for a year without a club.

Khumalo finally found a team in Equatorial Guinea last month, Futuro Kings, and the 29-year-old explains how his move to the CAF Confederation Cup participants came about.

"Yes that's correct my brother, I got a call from my agent Lebo 'Guluva' Mashishi and he told me that there is a team from Equatorial Guinea that is very interested in me," Khumalo tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"They wanted me to join them for their pre-season camp in Cameroon and they told him that they will book a flight for me and everything, including my visa.

"So I went there for an assessment just to check the level of fitness and they were impressed, and yeah, here I am, they signed me."

The former Moroka Swallows star says he is adapting very well in his new home and his focus is to enjoy the moment of returning to football instead of thinking about a possible return to the PSL.

"Hahaha my brother, I'd rather not respond to that. All I can say is that I'm grateful to be back in football and playing again," he says.

"Yeah everything is good this side, although we are running too much [laughs]! I'm just happy to be back playing football again but I suffered an injury a couple of weeks ago, but ngi right manje [I'm good now].

"The only challenge is the language, but I'm learning. So I'm really happy to be playing again. The team is good towards me, the coach, the players, everyone, so I'm happy."
