Another season of big hits for ex-Downs striker

Nyasha Mushekwi continues to prove just how prolific he remains with his 38th birthday to come with the veteran striker on double figures on the scoring charts again.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns hitman is now employed at Dalian K’un City in China’s League One.

Mushekwi was on target over the weekend for what counted as his eighth goal of the season after playing 13 matches.

K’un City have scored 13 goals in the league and eight of them have Mushekwi’s name next to them.

Unfortunate for the veteran striker is that K’un City are in the bottom half of the standings ,15 points behind the top two promotion places to the Chinese Super League.

The Chinese League One runs on a calendar year and there are 17 games to play for K'un City.

For Mushekwi, with double numbers in sight, it will mean that he has been on at least 10 goals for 12 of the last 15 years that he has played professional football in South Africa, Sweden, and China.

Last season, he scored 27 goals across all competitions.

The year before, it was 18 with his number on 23, 10, 19, 16, and 15 throughout the years that he has spent playing in China.

K’un City is the fourth club that Mushekwi has played for in China having had spells with Dalian Yifang, Zhejiang Greentown, and Yunnan Yukun.

He will turn 38 in seven weeks.
