'I knew Ngezana likes to fake shots'

One of Siyabonga Ngezana’s opponents has revealed how he anticipated and planned for the defender to make a mistake during Sunday’s league match between FCSB and Rapid București.

FCSB and Rapid played out a 2-2 draw at the National Arena over the weekend in a Romanian SuperLiga encounter.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender had performed well throughout the match, but made a costly error in stoppage time after the Red and Blues had led 2-0 until the 83rd minute.

Ngezana attempted to dribble out from the back but was dispossessed by defender Andrei Borza, who then assisted Elvir Koljić for the equalising goal, a mistake that drew criticism.

Now, 19-year-old Borza has explained that he anticipated the Bafana Bafana international would attempt a short pass, as he often does in other matches, and used that knowledge to press and win the ball.

"I watch the FCSB matches and Siyabonga Ngezana doesn't really play long, he doesn't like that, he likes to fake shots," Borza said, according to Digi Sport.

"I expected that, I waited until the last moment to see what he would do, then we had a 1-on-1 duel, I took the ball and crossed.

"I didn't want to fall, I wanted to continue the phase and I am glad that Elvir scored there.

"It was a hard-earned result. The first half wasn't the brightest, but we're happy that we got a point at the end of the match, that we worked until the end.

"We have to analyse, we had possession, we built very well, but we didn't complete the actions and that cost us, because we were only making transitions."
