Redemption press on for Chiefs discard

Colombian striker Efmamjjasond Gonzalez is back proving his scoring abilities again as he moves on with his career after his disastrous stay at Kaizer Chiefs.

Gonzalez failed to score all season while at Chiefs, where he played 554 minutes spread over 13 appearances after coming in on loan from Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz.

After Amakhosi, his misery continued as he went on to suffer relegation with Santa Cruz last month.

He had returned to the club in mid-year after the Soweto giants decided against taking up the option of turning the loan into a permanent deal.

A year later, Gonzalez is smiling again at 2020 Bolivian champions Always Ready FC.

On Sunday, the big forward scored a brace as Always Ready hammered San Antonio Bulo Bulo 5-2 in the Bolivian Primera Division.

The latest goals come after he got a hat-trick last month and is now second in the league’s top scorers’ charts with six goals.

His six goals have come in nine games.

Having scored another six at Santa Cruz straight after arriving from South Africa, it means Gonzalez now has a dozen goals to his name since he left Naturena.

Chiefs ended the season with none of their players managing to reach six goals in the league with Wandile Duba their league top scorer with five.

Meanwhile, former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Erwin Saavedra has scored twice for Club Bolivar in the same league.
