South Africa national team coach Hugo Broos has been dealt a selection headache ahead of Thursday's clash against Morocco after first-choice left-back Terrence Mashego was forced to withdraw from the camp.
The Cape Town City defender has been ruled out of the highly-anticipated AFCON qualifier after it was revealed that he had suffered a meniscus tear in his knee.
"It's a very bad situation but it's not a bad injury, it's just a tear in the meniscus so I believe I will heal fast," he told SAFA's media department over the weekend.
"I was looking forward to this game but we still have Lyle Lakay and Innocent Maela who I believe will do the job. I just have to focus on my injury right now and make sure that I come back stronger."
Mashego made his international debut for South Africa in a 3-1 FIFA World Cup qualifier win over Ethiopia in October last year and has featured regularly under Broos since, winning five caps in total for Bafana Bafana thus far.
